Vegas Road Trip, Days 3, 4, and 5
Well we had a pretty unremarkable day Tuedsay. It was raining when we woke up, so I decided to spend a few hours updating the website and catching up on the news.
We spent most of the day on the strip on Wednesday.
Went to the Palms on Thursday and also went souvenir shopping.
Day 3:
Slept 'till 8 AM after going to bed at 10 the night before.
Seeing as we fought "hydroplaning" on the rain-soaked highways on the way here, I decided now was as good a time as any to lose the shitty, balding Eagle GA tires on the IMPALER. I browsed around and found a good deal at Discount Tire Direct - Kumho 732 Touring Plus tires for $51 apiece. Read TireRack's overwhelmingly positive reviews of said tires and decided to drive over to the Discount Tire shop down the street to have a set installed. Ended up spending $276 for the whole shebang-a-bang. I figure that even if they don't turn out to be an outstanding tire, they're still light years better than the absolutely crappy Eagle GA's that were on the car when we bought it...
Went to Super Wal-Mart after that, and then drove over to the In-N-Out Burger (damn they have some tasty burgers and fries) over near NewYork NewYork and Excalibur. Visited a 7-Eleven for some Slurpees, and then headed back to Texas Station for some gambling. Spent a few hours in the casino and then turned in for the night...
Day 4:
Spent the daylight hours on the strip. Ate at the buffet at the Imperial Palace. I did the whole "tourist" thing by snapping pics along the whole route we walked on. So without further adieu, here they are:

Texas Station, the hotel we're staying at. It's a good 7 or 8 miles northwest of the strip. It's not too shabby of a place - it has a huge casino, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a dozen restaurants, and a large conference facility.

The Palms, where they film the show "Inked" and also where they filmed one of the seasons of "The Real World."

And right next to the Palms, the RIO. These 2 hotels are on the opposite side of I-15 as the strip.

This is at the intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd (the strip.)

Bellagio

Caesars

Harrah's

Imperial Palace

This is the new Monorail that parallels the strip. You can hop on and be whisked to anywhere on the strip you'd like to go...

The daquri bar where Stacy bought a "Mega Margarita"

Statue in front of Caesars

Entrance to Caesars

...lookin' for my lost shaker of salt

The "mall" inside Caesars

The large "chariot" outside of FAO Schwartz

Entering the Bellagio from the "above-the-street" crosswalk

The Eifel Tower Restaurant

Bellagio

I guess there's a "water show" in this little pool. Looks like we missed out on it

Paris

Aladdin

The Harley Davidson Cafe

The Boardwalk. Looks like they're tearing it down soon

Looks like they've got the windows out of the hotel already. Wonder when the "big boom" is gonna happen?

The Monte Carlo. We went in here and gambled a bit

The ESPN Zone

The "Brooklyn Bridge"

NewYork NewYork has to be the coolest Hotel/Casino in Vegas! We're definitely staying here the next time we go.

The Tropicana

MGM Grand

Looking down towards Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur

Looking back towards where we walked from

Excalibur

This was the Lion exhibit inside the MGM Grand. They rotate in a new lion every 6 hours

We kept seeing these cabs covered in "burnt orange" shag carpeting

The wildlife garden in the "back yard" of the Flamingo
Day 5:
Went to the Palms so Stacy could see "Hart and Huntington Tatoo Parlor" from the TV show INKED. Went souvenir shopping and snapped some more pics of the strip.

The pirate ships in front of Treasure Island

Looks as if this hotel just opened. It's called the "Wynn" and it's where the taxicabs with the orange shag carpeting on them were advertising for

The Fashion Show Mall

Las Vegas Hilton (a block off of the strip.)

The Stratosphere

The huge "schlock shop" where we bought most of the souvenirs

The In-N-Out Burger

Spent a few hours at the casino at Texas Station. Hit the dinner buffet there as well, turned in for the night, and called it a vacation. Days 6 and 7 were spent in the car driving home (sorry, no journal this time.)
